Mindanao Peace Games 2022: SPIKE FOR PEACE

The Mindanao Peace Games, held at the Dimaporo Gymnasium in November 2022, was a meaningful sports event that promoted unity, sportsmanship, and peace among participating schools. The event focused solely on the Volleyball tournament, which became the main highlight of the games.

The volleyball matches were filled with energy and excitement as teams competed with determination and teamwork. Every serve, set, and spike demonstrated the players’ hard work and dedication. The gymnasium was alive with cheers from students, supporters, and spectators who eagerly watched each match.

The tournament was made even more competitive with the participation of guest schools, Iligan Medical Center College and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. Competing against these institutions challenged the players and provided valuable experience, helping them improve their skills and confidence on the court.

This event was especially memorable for me because it was my first-ever tournament as a first-year college student and as a member of the campus Volleyball Club. Stepping onto the court for the first time in an official competition was both exciting and tense. It was an experience that taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

After the game, we took pictures together with the players from the other team, showing respect, friendship, and true sportsmanship beyond the competition.

More than just a competition, the Mindanao Peace Games Volleyball Tournament served its true purpose—bringing people together through sports. It fostered unity, respect, and camaraderie among student-athletes from different schools.

The Mindanao Peace Games Volleyball Tournament 2022 will always be remembered as a significant milestone in my college journey and my growth as a volleyball player.
